Riley Stewart, a junior at Cherry Creek High in Colorado representing Kokopelli Racing Team, placed second in the open/unattached/club girls mile in 4:47.45 at the NIKE Chandler Rotary Invitational at Austin Field in Chandler, Ariz. Stewart ran the fastest 1,600-meter split of 4:45.76, ahead of Madison Shults from Niwot High in Colorado representing REAL Training and her 4:45.81 split. But Shults prevailed in the full mile, clocking 4:47.14 to rally for the victory.
