Brie Oakley of Grandview CO and Allie Schadler of Rio Rico AZ produced the closest finish in the Sally Meyerhoff mile in the 77-year history of the NIKE Chandler Rotary Invitational, with Oakley prevailing 4:46.97 to 4:46.98 after Schadler led 4:45.39 to 4:45.43 at Austin Field. Oakley and Schadler ran the top two mile times in the country and the second- and third-fastest times in meet history. Oakley also placed sixth in the 800 in a personal-best 2:15.67.
