Naomi Johnson, a UCLA-bound senior at Eastvale Roosevelt High in California, won the girls invitational 400 meters in 54.17 seconds at the 82nd Nike Chandler Rotary Invitational at Austin Field at Chandler High. Johnson, who elevated to the No. 2 competitor in meet history and was selected the top female track athlete of the event, also helped Roosevelt win the invitational girls 4x100-meter relay in 46.78 and contributed to a third-place finish in the invitational girls 4x400-meter relay in 3:59.58. Only former Bishop O'Dowd High of California standout Tierra Robinson-Jones, a senior at Texas A&M, has run faster in the 400 in meet history by clocking 54.11 in 2018.
